Lao PDR recently and successfully chaired ASEAN – congratulations on this significant achievement!
As stated in Article 34 of the ASEAN Charter, “English is the working language of ASEAN”.
For Lao government officials, strong English skills are essential for collaborating with regional colleagues, staying informed on sector developments, and maximizing learning opportunities. This highlights the need for a long-term English language learning strategy within the Lao government sector.
Since 2016, ILSTA has been supporting the English language needs of Lao government officials.
Currently, 276 officials from 35 ministries and institutions in Vientiane, Champasak, and Luang Prabang are attending English language classes.
The programme also provides one-on-one classes for senior officials and online training for selected provincial staff.
If you see these banners with ”Mr. Chan” in your town and you are a civil servant, you can scan the QR code to enroll in the course.
The English for Law Programme is supported by Luxembourg Aid and Development.
