Ethics and Integrity Course

Over the past two weeks, ILSTA conducted the 3rd edition of its Summer School on Ethics and Integrity. Developed under the framework of the Doha Declaration in 2015, “PROMOTING A CULTURE OF LAWFULNESS”, the program emphasizes the importance of ethics and integrity, incorporating numerous practical exercises and case studies.
Building a culture of lawfulness begins with strengthening our ethical values and the capacity to act on them. To support this, the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative developed a series of Integrity and Ethics Modules. These modules serve as foundational resources for lecturers in universities and academic institutions worldwide, aimed at enhancing students’ ethical awareness, commitment to integrity, and ability to apply these principles in various aspects of life, work, and society.
The curriculum, grounded in ethical theories, ensures a robust and internationally recognized foundation. The course was designed to enhance students’ decision-making skills in confronting ethical dilemmas by examining ethical considerations in diverse contexts, including society, business, media, and leadership. These activities enabled participants to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. Additionally, students had the opportunity to engage with professionals from various fields, conducting interviews to gain insights into the practical application of ethics and integrity in different professional settings.
By the end of the course, students emerged with improved critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of ethical issues. They are now better prepared to navigate ethical challenges and uphold integrity in their lives and careers.
The two-week course, aimed at university students, supported by Luxembourg was highly acclaimed by participants. ILSTA plans to roll out the 4th edition of this course in 2025.
