ILSTA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security, organized a two-week training course on criminal investigation for Lao law enforcement officers. Participants included representatives from the police, customs, prosecutors’ offices, forest inspection units, state inspection authorities, the military, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Anti-Money Laundering Intelligence Office.
The course focused primarily on practical applications of the Lao Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Law. Participants engaged in real-life case simulations, which equipped them with critical law enforcement techniques to address serious crimes such as human trafficking, narcotics trafficking, cash smuggling, money laundering, and burglary. These exercises enabled participants to refine key skills, including handling reported information, examining crime scenes, conducting interviews, managing digital and forensic evidence, analyzing the components of criminal acts, and drafting investigation summaries.
The successful completion of the course marks a step forward in enhancing the professionalism and capacity of Lao law enforcement personnel. The skills and knowledge gained will be instrumental in addressing pressing criminal challenges and upholding the rule of law across the country.
