Training Course on Investigating Narcotics

The Office of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor (OSPP) organised with ILSTA, a specialized long-term training course on investigating narcotics in Luang Prabang.
Attended by representatives from OSPP, MPS, AMLIO, State Inspection Authority, State Inspection Agency of the Bank of Lao, and the Military Prosecutors, this knowledge-packed event aimed to equip participants with essential skills to conduct narcotics investigations safely and effectively. The course covered a spectrum of topics, from surveillance to raid planning, and featured realistic scenarios with role players acting as drug couriers, middlemen, and a notorious drug trafficking kingpin.
The overarching theme involved the importation, exportation, and trafficking of narcotics, alongside money laundering of illicit profits.
Participants had the opportunity to apply their acquired skills in real-world scenarios across different locations in the city, focusing on identifying and collecting evidence related to money laundering from the suspects.
Beyond individual skill development, theory, and practice, the course fostered collaboration and knowledge-sharing among diverse professionals, creating a robust network of experts dedicated to combating narcotics-related crimes.
This course is part of ILSTA’s long-term training modules and will be delivered in a systematic way to concerned line authorities in the future.
